Video Interview: Ruben Östlund, Director of "The Square"

Ruben Östlund's newest film, the winner of the top prize at Cannes and official selection at the New York Film Festival, clicked into place during this interview when he started describing being inspired by the Leos Carax movie "Holy Motors." Suddenly all the wide-angle hysteria seemed so purposeful, so dynamic. It's easy to become delirious and lost watching this brilliant comedy of bad manners. In this interview, Östlund makes its intriguing mysteries and loose ends small and relatable and made me excited to dive back in as soon as possible. The film's justifiable Palme d'Or win in hindsight feels like justice for "Holy Motors" being snubbed in 2012. Seek out Ostlund's austere, hysterical puzzle as soon as humanly possible.
